It’s just another day on the calendar. He’ll go to work and maybe even forget the date at some point in the day… but to me, it’s the most special day, because it’s the day my other half was born.
So, how can I make that day just as special for him when he says he doesn’t want or need anything?
A.J.’s 34th birthday is tomorrow. I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of some cute and fun ideas to surprise the man of my dreams… and here’s what I’ve come up with.
Birthday gift ideas
Donut know what I’d do without you
A.J. loves donuts–but really, who doesn’t? So, what about surprising your man with some of his favorite donuts and a little note, “I donut know what I’d do without you” before he takes off for work? It’s the little things that add up and show how much you love your man. Something as little as this sweet surprise would put a smile on anyone’s face… am I right or am I right?
Sneak love notes in his car
Keep the smiles on his face all day long by surprising him with love notes. Stick some in his car, maybe in his wallet or laptop bag–wherever he’ll end up looking at some point during the day. This sweet gesture doesn’t cost a thing, so why not do it?
Surprise him at work
If your man is anything like mine–working on his birthday–then what could be more romantic than surprising him at work and taking him out to lunch? A.J. and I love our lunch dates; it’s nice to be able to spend that quick break together. Plus, it’s easy on the wallet.
A day of adventures
It was two years ago. We were living in southern Oregon and we both had the day off–which was totally not normal. I surprised A.J. by taking him to his favorite breakfast spot. We ate way too much, laughed so hard and had an amazing morning. We then drove around in his Mustang–maybe a little too fast–and explored the beauty of the Rogue Valley. Before dinner, we caught a movie and then overindulged–story of our lives–on some pizza and beer. It was an amazing day, and one I’ll never forget. Looking back, we didn’t do much, but we did all of the things that would make A.J. call it a perfect day, and that’s what matters.
Cook him dinner
There is something so special about cooking a great meal for your loved one. Anyone could go out to dinner, but not many can whip up something delightful and tasty.
We love staycations. Being able to leave the house–and all of the responsibilities that go along with it–and relax is huge. This one might be a little bit more expensive than the rest, but surprising your man with a staycation is romantic and worth the splurge.
Gifts don’t have to come in wrapped boxes. They don’t always have to cost any money. I’d rather create memories with my husband that we can look back on than try to remember what item I bought him that one year… so, what am I getting the man of the hour? You’ll have to wait and see.
